Stylish Size Maternity Wear

During pregnancy, comfort is a major priority. Most expectant mothers like to look good as well. The majority of women do not begin to show until they are at least four months along, so you may be able to use your non-maternity wardrobe until then. After four months, however, you will need maternity tops. Baby doll tops and wrap around tops are both functional and fashionable.

Fabrics that stretch and breath are the best to buy. Also make sure you buy tops that absorb moisture as this will help keep you cool during the sweltering months of summer. If you buy a top that irritates you, this can cause itching in the abdominal area and this in turn can lead to pregnancy marks that you do not want.

The baby doll top will cover your expanding mid section and it is loose enough to be comfortable. These types of tops can be worn with everything from jeans, to pants, to skirts and they come in a variety of styles and colors. Choose a long sleeved baby doll top for the colder months and a short sleeved or even spaghetti strap top for the summer to keep you cool. Many baby doll tops feature an empire waist, which helps to elongate the frame of a woman's body. In this way the eye is not drawn automatically to the growing bulge but to the entire silhouette of the glowing pregnant lady!

The wrap around top flatters the plus size woman's figure and pregnant woman's figure too. This sort of top is comfortable to wear and it's also stylish. It can be worn before the belly begins to show and after too. Try to find a wrap around top that is in plain color because a patterned one can make a woman look even larger. The ones in cotton blend are better because they let the body breathe easily so you don't sweat in summer. It is also important to buy a wrap around top that you can adjust the tie on, when you grow larger with your baby. These tops are convenient for almost all types of occasions, from going to the movies, to work or spending the night out with friends in a restaurant.

Do not forget the seasons once you start building your maternity wardrobe. If you are pregnant in winter and the winters in your town are very cold, buy yourself turtlenecks that are comfortable but not clingy. Look for one in a dark gray color or black. Once the thermometer starts to rise and the sun is burning brightly in the sky, make sure you have some tee shirts to keep you as cool and breezy as possible. If you like tank tops then purchase ones with wider shoulder straps as the thinner straps are likely to dig into your skin and bother you, as you get bigger.By: Andrea Morris
